Anxious for Spring

The pond/lake is officially frozen all over this morning.

Debora Nash Designs Wilderness Journal - Pond/Lake frozen over

It takes drastically cold temps to freeze that much water in a week.

I have taken these shots daily since going from 60 to 2 degrees; the 2 degrees is predicted for tonight.

It was 5 degrees this morning...

That bimbo in the blue dress is really trying hard, this year.

Also saw 3 White tail Does on the dam, this morning, that were jet black in the face, neck and chest. They were eating Acorns. I first thought they were black hunting dogs when I spotted them, grabbed the binoculars and they were Black Does. I never knew they got that dark...

Then, at the same time here at the house, spotted a huge Coon in the yard wondering around, that looked like a short Godzilla, walking on all fours... a big, fat dude...

Have not seen a single Squirrel or Rabbit since the freeze.

Saw a trail of rabbit tracks in the snow, but have not spotted a single Squirrel. I had 6 Squirrels running rampant in the Pecan tree in the yard, but they are all huddled in somewhere and not coming back out till it warms up again on Monday.

By Friday, we will be back in the 60's and that is bikini weather after all this frigid cold... LOL!!

The Eagles have been out ground hunting, elsewhere, since the pond/lake is frozen...

I have been watching for them... but no sight of them, lately.

Gonna layer up this morning and go rig my office to be warm so I can get some photo work done.

Working off my iPad is so limiting, that I have claustrophobia...

Got a new SSD hard drive for my big computer since my son complained my computer was too slow... so going to install that and see if it doesn't improve. My computer works fine. I think Microsoft is sabatoging my OS to force me to buy the new motherboards and CPU's they are forcing for Windows 11... They are forcing about 2 million computers to be sent to the dump for this garbage they are doing to push Win 11. You cannot use the same hardware for the new versions of Windows and Microsoft is shutting down Windows 10... Absolutely outrageous.

Anyway, that is all that is happening here, in the woods...

Won't know how the huge Honey Bee hive in the big tree that Joe took down last summer is doing.

They were all coming to the porch to get to my Hummingbird feeders this past summer.

I will be making some "Sugar Water Jars" for the Bees, in the Spring.

I had an idea of how to make that work and will be making everything by hand.

Will do up some videos on how to do it and show how they work with the Bees, once I have tested them out. I will be hanging those in the trees in the yard to keep the Bees from settling in the sides of the house...

I will also be making some Hummingbird Feeders out of 2-liter Drink bottles, as well...

After going through 6 gallons of sugar water a day, this past summer, I need a longer feed trough for the Little Vacuums...

My glass Hummer feeders are about 4 years old and way too expensive to buy anymore (16 feeders at around $30 a piece is a big hit to the wallet.) , so I am looking at things differently that will be more economical to do instead...

A video on that will be coming, once tested and proven to work, as well...

I have some more "New to me" historic dies to deliver today...

The 1940 "Red Cross Rose" that was used by the Red Cross during the WW2 years is here.

It is about 2 inches in length and will make for a beautiful pendant with the matching earring dies that I have from the 1920's...

Then, I happened across a real classic that everyone recognizes... "1964 Avon Kissing Doves" steel die and a 1940 Child's size ring die to mount with a small Turquoise stone that I will cut and shape...

So, I am anxiously awaiting warmer days of Spring, as I begin to get back to work in the shop, once again.
